The Power to Control Pain
The Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥, Chapter of the International Association for the Study of Pain, is a non-profit organization comprised of multidisciplinary health care professionals and scientists, dedicated to research, and educational and clinical aspects of pain management.
The Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ endeavours to promote all aspects of education and training in research and development, and clinical management of chronic pain problems.
The Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ believes that every individual suffering from a chronic pain condition has the right to access appropriate information for the better understanding of his/her/their condition.
TheÌýÕý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ believes all patients should have access to the highest possible standard of clinical care, from appropriately trained clinicians, in facilities adequately equipped to meet theirÌýneeds.
Chronic pain classification (ICD-11), developed by a Task Force of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), is based on current scientific evidence and the biopsychosocial model.
In accordance with ICD-11 and IASP definitions of varying types of chronic pain syndromes, the Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ endeavours to promote public awareness of the multifactorial nature of chronic pain, which can adversely impact quality of life for patients and their families.
The Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ believes that greater recognition and understanding is required at government level so that sufficient resources are made available to meet the needs of patients suffering from this condition.
